Warp-knitted terry fabrics – ecological advantages for production

Warp-knitted terry fabrics score points, not only with regard to their variety, but also in relation to their ecological benefits.


This terry warp knitting machines operates at an impressive level of efficiency – at a width of 186″ and a speed 800 min−1, the TM 4-TS EL has a daily production rate of about 1,800 kg of terry fabrics at a weight of 400 g/m2250% more than on an air-jet loom.


The TM 4-TS EL consumes roughly 87% less energy per kilogramme of produced fabric than air-jet looms, which require a large amount of energy to produce the compressed air.


The production of warp-knitted terry fabrics requires no sizing process. This saves on textile chemicals, effluent and energy to the value of roughly 0.20 US dollars/kg. This corresponds to a share of roughly 30% of the production costs (without the yarn) when producing the raw fabric.


The firm anchoring of the terry loops into the knitted construction means that warp-knitted towels, and especially bathrobes, have a longer service life than woven textiles. The ecological advantages of this include less waste, longer replacement cycles and a lower consumption of resources.

This efficient warp preparation machine operates on the basis of a prewetting principle, which involves soaking the yarn with hot water before the size is applied. To carry out this beneficial pretreatment process, the PROSIZE® has been equipped with the CSB-PW and HSB-PW size boxes, i.e. it is available as a prewetting version. This permits savings of up to 40% to be made in sizing additives and energy.

BRÜCKNER Sustains Position As Market Leader In The Field Of Machines For Electronic Glass


LEONBERG, Germany — April 6, 2018 — The rapid developments in the field of electronics lead to an ever increasing demand for so-called electronic glass. This glass serves as basic material for printed circuit boards and is used due to its excellent dielectric characteristics with up to 16 stacked layers.

The users of modern communication and semiconductor technology expect increasing capacity with lower weight. In reverse this leads to a rapid increase of the demand for electronic glass of the highest possible quality. The trend towards lower and lower weights per square meter (m²) is unmistakable. Five years ago a surface weight of 48 grams (g)/m² was the standard for producers of electronic glass but in the meantime the standard is approx. 23 g/m². The leading producers in this field dare already to produce and use woven glass with a weight of 12 g/m².

The extreme yarn and fiber fineness presents however a certain limit for the processing of these light woven fabrics. Currently it cannot be assessed if this trend can and will continue. These woven fabrics are disputed among doctors and biologists. Broken filaments of micro dimensions, which do inevitably occur during the processing of the glass fabric, get with the inhaled air into the lungs and from there possibly into the blood circulation.

The extremely low fabric weight is however an enormous challenge for the supplier of the machinery. The highest possible precision when controlling minimum tractions, an absolute parallelism in the alignment of guide rollers and fabric accumulators, the use of special acid-resisting stainless steel and highly effective fabric path cleaning technology are just as obligatory as a minimum consumption of electrical energy and process heat and a highly effective exhaust air cleaning according to the latest state of the art.

BRÜCKNER meets these challenges for years and continuously develops its lines for continuous desizing and finishing. As a consequence almost all well-known producers of electronic glass have a Brückner glass fabric finishing line in their plants. These lines produce with the highest possible reliability on more than 330 days a year and round the clock with fabric speeds of up to 120 meters per minute.

This reliability, the high productivity and the possibility to process not only extremely light but also a wide range of fabric weights with the required quality makes Brückner a dependable partner for the producers of electronic glass. Therefore it is the rule that Brückner is awarded the contract also in case of follow-up orders.

The orders placed with Brückner during the last 12 months for such lines exceeded by far all expectations. Several customers in Taiwan and China ordered glass fabric finishing lines, among them continuous desizing lines and finishing lines for extremely light fabric. Some of the finishing lines were ordered for the universal use with light and heavier fabric weights from 23 to 202 g/m².

Continuity In The Partnership Between BRÜCKNER And TVOE In The Russian Market


LEONBERG, Germany — April 18, 2018 — The “Russky trikotazh” Holding was established in 2002 by Igor Yushkevich and had at that time four production plants. Their products are today sold under the label “TVOE”, a registered trade mark. The Holding developed actively a retail store chain named TVOE comprising today more than 500 stores in Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgystan. TVOE stands for cheerful, fashionable brand name clothing for people full of energy and happiness.

In 2006 JSC Sharm became a part of the Russky Trikotazh group. The high-quality production of the Sharm company is defined by the experience of more than 1,400 employees and state-of-the-art European machinery. They produce, dye and finish knitted fabric made of cotton and viscose.

The first BRÜCKNER machines — a tenter and a relaxation dryer — were delivered to Smolensk in 2007. The machines had been chosen in view of quality and high production capacity. But even given the still relatively low energy costs in Russia, energetic and economic efficiency did also play a decisive part when the customer decided in favor of these machines. With this step TVOE came into a position to achieve a very good finishing quality. Above all the uniformity of drying and heat-setting, the hallmark of the Brückner tenter convinced the customer.

Another production plant is located in Shuya, a small town in the region of Ivanovo, where a new production site for knitted fabric was established in 2010 based on an old textile factory.

In a new stage of cooperation between TVOE and Brückner more machines were sold in 2010 to the factory in Shuya. Beside an 8 compartment POWER-FRAME stenter Brückner supplied another POWER-RELAX relaxation dryer and a combination of rubber belt compactor and felt belt compactor. This machine, known as POWER-COMPACT COMBI is mainly used for knitted fabric treated with double mercerization. While the rubber belt unit provides for a high shrinkage of the product, the felt belt calender ensures a smooth surface and a good hand of the fabric.

TVOE is the only textile producer with a fully integrated production in Russia giving a response to the high quantity of importations from China and Turkey. The company produces mainly high-quality knitted fabric made of cotton for every day. There are quality controls in any stage of the production beginning with the selection of yarn to the packing of the end product.

With their products finished on these machines TVOE could establish themselves successfully as exporter to the European markets. Beyond the usual training of the operators Brückner organized a training of the team in a well-known finishing factory. With ongoing production, the technological process and the optimization of the machine was explained and trained.

The last Brückner machines have been supplied in 2017, a stenter for the factory in Smolensk and a stenter for the factory in Shuya. Currently the machines are being set into operation. When designing these new machines some complements and adaptations have been made compared to the previous machines. The aim is to implement the latest design and marketing trends in the production of TVOE.

A training and formation package was planned with these supplies, too. A training on site after the commissioning is planned but also further measures either in Brückner’s Technology Center or in a finishing plant with ongoing production. In addition, the TVOE technicians will be trained by Brückner in view of telediagnostics and telemaintenance. This will allow in future a faster reaction in case of possible failures, shorter standstills and technological support.

These measures are a part of Brückner’s overall concept: Brückner is not only a supplier of machines for their customers but also a strong technology and service partner. This is the basis for continuity in the successful partnership between Brückner and their customers.
