Fewer visitors, more interest – KARL MAYER is satisfied with Saigon Tex, held 11.-14.04.2018 in Ho Chi Minh City

Less is more

SaigonTex ended on 14 April 2018 after four days, and most of the participants recorded a successful fair. Roughly 900 exhibitors from 27 countries came to this leading trade fair for the textile and clothing industry in Vietnam, among them the KARL MAYER Group. This leading textile machinery producer, with its headquarters in Obertshausen, was presenting its innovative technical solutions for warp knitting and warp preparation on the stand of its regional agent, ILLIES ENGINEERING VIETNAM, who described its visitors as “small but fine.” “It is true that there were fewer visitors and exhibitors than last year, but we detected an encouraging increase in the quality of the conversations and enquiries,” says Christoph Peters of ILLIES ENGINEERING VIETNAM. This director recognised many well-known faces among the visitors he spoke to, and also met interested people who made enquiries about projects in Vietnam.

The visitors came mainly from the host country, as well as Korea, Italy, Turkey and Taiwan. Once again, SaigonTex turned out to be a useful platform for international customers planning to expand in Vietnam. Constant foreign investment by well-known textile companies is promoting the continuing excellent investment climate in Vietnam. In addition to efficient machines, qualified workers are needed to exploit the growth potential of this country. The interest of the visitors in KARL MAYER’s workshop held in the service centre of ILLIES Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City was, therefore, extremely high. Here, customers’ machine operatives can attend a one-week training course on warp knitting machines. At the fair, Christoph Peters took a number of firm bookings for the course.

Members of the exhibition team specialising in warp preparation were also pleased with the number of positive enquiries and conversations they had. These mainly focused on KARL MAYER’s machines for use in denim production and for sizing in the manufacture of terry fabrics and shirtings.
