Truetzschler and Voith introduce new safety standard for wet-laid spunlaced nonwovens Machinery

In the shape of standard VN 3260/TN 0790, Voith Paper and Trützschler Nonwovens have developed a new safety standard for wet-laid spunlaced (WLS) Nonwovens machines. The standard will help producers of Nonwovens to ensure safe and reliable operation of their machines. It also provides the basic prerequisite for meeting expectations in respect of production and quality:
  • Basis for safe production of Nonwovens
  • Combination of proven standards for paper and textile machines
  • Standardization process by ISO initiated

Voith and Trützschler jointly developed the manufacturing process for wet-laid and hydroentangled Nonwovens. The machines on which the materials are produced consist partly of paper machine components and partly of components from Nonwoven machines. The manufacturing process for wet-laid Nonwovens is similar to that for producing paper: A suspension consisting of water and fibers up to 40 mm long is passed over a wire on which a homogeneous fiber mat forms. The hydroentangling or spunlacing process produces bonded Nonwovens that can be textured if required. Drying and winding of the Nonwovens are done on other machine components.

The newly developed standard combines various Voith and Trützschler safety standards for paper and textile machines in a new document and thus defines the safety requirements for new hybrid machines.

The safety standard has already been incorporated by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) as the basis for developing an international standard, so as to achieve greater impact at global level.

Terrot Group exhibit machine for single jersey fabrics at Bangladesh’s DTG 2017

Terrot Group exhibit machine for single jersey fabrics at Bangladesh’s DTG 2017

As one of the leading manufacturers of electronically and mechanically controlled circular knitting machines worldwide Terrot will be present on DTG Bangladesh 2017 with one of its most successful machine type for Bangladesh market: single jersey machine S296-1 with 3-way technique.

With a know-how of about 150 years and its innovations Terrot influences the development of the worldwide textile industry significantly. The company combines its traditional values like superior quality, innovative engineering solutions and consequent customer orientation with the demands of the global markets.

Outstanding price performance ratio

Exhibition machine model S296-1 features a large variety of different stitch structures. Up to 4 needle tracks enable a flexible and efficient production of knitted fabrics for several applications. Positive needle guidance in combination with enclosed needle tracks provide an even knitted structure whilst at the same time working with a simultaneously high operation speed. Another advantage is the ideal distribution of 109 feeds over a 34 inch diameter and an engine power of 4.0 kW. This enables machine operation with maximum energy efficiency and low running costs.

Greater process reliability at high machine speeds

Monitoring every stage of the stitch-forming process will ensure a greater process reliability. The exhibition model reaches a speed factor of SF 1050. The system density of 3.2 feeders per inch diameter allows a high production standard with an increased manufacturing efficiency.

More flexibility with conversion kits

Powerful argument for this machine is the increased performance with possibility of conversion to a 3-thread fleece machine that offers much more production flexibility for customers. Within a machine diameter of 26 to 36 the machine can be quickly changed into SBF 296-1. The resulting knitted fabrics are highly inquired on global market.

Possible applications

The predestined scope of application of the S-296-1 is the production off all kinds of single jersey knits from gauge E12 to E54: 2-thread yarn fleece, elastane plating, tuck structure, crepe structure, eyelet stitch pattern, mesh, needle set-out, piqué and plain single jersey.

As usual the S296-1 from Terrot is available with an open width frame and also with a tubular frame and can be configured in various machine diameters from 26 to 44 inches on customer demand.

Terrot welcomes visitors at the DTG 2017 at booth 705.

Qualiscan QMS-12
Qualiscan QMS-12

The Qualiscan QMS is a modular system for measuring, logging and controlling critical process parameters over the entire width of the product, including weight per unit area, coating weight, thickness, moisture etc.

The Qualiscan QMS can be used in virtually every industrial sector in which products are produced as a web, or where they are finished (laminated, coated, etc.). The versatile sensors and measuring devices of the Qualiscan QMS series can sense, log and continuously control such parameters as weight per unit area (basis weight), coating weight, thickness and moisture in a variety of web-type products.

The Qualiscan QMS is a modular system consisting of multiple measuring sensors and traversing frames acting as intelligent nodes on a network. The individual components are linked through a normal Ethernet cable as found in any office for networking multiple PCs.

KARL MAYER Technische Textilien (Technical Textiles) is opening up a whole world of multiaxial textiles

The JEC WORLD 2017 innovation platform ended on 16 March with many satisfied exhibitors – and KARL MAYER Technische Textilien was one of them

As one of the leading suppliers to the composites sector, KARL MAYER Technische Textilien GmbH would not miss exhibiting at JEC WORLD 2017. This company manufactures machines and equipment for producing textile structures for reinforcing composites. “Together with Techtextil in Frankfurt, JEC WORLD is the most important fair for us,” said Hagen Lotzmann, the Sales Manager of KARL MAYER Technische Textilien. “We spoke to all of our most important clients in Paris, most of whom were also exhibiting at the show. We also made many new contacts, mainly from European companies,” he said. The conversations mainly focused on machines for producing multiaxial textiles. This company can supply the BIAXTRONIC® CO and COP BIAX 2 for producing biaxially textiles. The COP MAX machines are also available for producing multi axial reinforcing structures: the flexible COP MAX 4 can produce multilayered, multiaxial textiles with angles of +20° to -20°, and the COP MAX 5 is designed specifically for processing carbon fibres. Very thin, homogeneous structures with extremely low weights can be produced on this machine. To produce lightweight, multiaxial structures, many manufacturers want to use industrial, heavy and consequently cost-effective fibre materials and were, therefore, keen to talk to Hagen Lotzmann about fibre spreading. The company can supply the UD 500 and UD 700 systems for spreading and equalising the fibre tapes. These can process continuous filament yarns made from carbon, as well as from glass and aramid. Multiaxial glass-fibre textiles are used mainly in the blades of wind turbines. According to Hagen Lotzmann, the renewable energy sector continues to flourish. “Everyone has a great deal to do,” he commented. Many discussions were held with representatives and suppliers from the automotive and aerospace sectors. A number of new development trends could be detected during the course of the conversations, and the picture of a highly innovative sector emerged. “Our customers came to us with a variety of ideas and they are looking for solutions to cater for extremely specific applications,” concluded Hagen Lotzmann.
