As early as the 1970s, Germany had close trade relations with Iran. The former Islamic Republic even became the second most important exporting country outside of Europe. Today, as a consequence of the step-by-step reduction of the sanctions imposed on exports to Iran, trade and industry are reconnecting again. That also applies to the textile machinery market. In order to keep up with their foreign competitors, Iranian textile industrials have to invest in their factories. By that, the textile industry with its long tradition – according to governmental information, there are about 10 000 factories with 290 000 employees – shall remain competitive. The Iranian manufacturers favour German technology.
The IRANTEX trade fair, the oldest exhibition for textile machinery and products, is an excellent platform to network and intensify existing relations. About 700 exhibitors for textile machinery, raw materials, home textiles, embroidery machines and textile products present themselves in Teheran in September.
